How to Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ
The world is searching for hope, and we have the answer: Jesus Christ. His death on the cross, His resurrection, and His offer of salvation are the greatest news anyone could ever hear.
But here’s the question: Are you willing to share it?
Many believers feel nervous or unsure about sharing their faith, but Jesus has given us a clear command:
"Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." – Mark 16:15
You don’t have to be a preacher. You don’t have to know all the answers. You just have to be willing and obedient. Here are some practical ways to share the Gospel—and how to handle real-life situations when you do.
1. Live It First
Before people listen to what you say, they’ll watch how you live. If your life reflects Christ, your words will carry power.
- Be joyful – The world is full of fear, anxiety, and hopelessness. If people see Christ’s peace in you, they’ll want to know why. "Let your light so shine before men" (Matthew 5:16).
- Be kind and patient – Harshness and arguments don’t win souls. Love does.
- Be different – When you don’t laugh at sinful jokes, when you don’t compromise, people will notice—and they’ll ask why. That’s your open door!
What If Someone Says: "I don’t believe in God"?
- Stay calm. Don't argue.
- Ask, “What do you believe?” Then listen.
- Share your testimony and the Gospel. The Word of God is alive and it speaks. "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).
2. Start with Your Testimony
People can argue theology, but they can’t argue with a changed life. Tell them what Jesus has done for you!
How to Share Your Testimony:
- What was your life like before Christ? (Be real, but don’t glorify sin.)
- How did you come to know Him? (A verse? A sermon? A personal struggle?)
- How has He changed you? (Talk about the peace, freedom, and joy you have now.)
What If Someone Says: "I’ve done too much wrong to be saved"?
- Tell them about God’s grace – "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
- Share the story of the thief on the cross (Luke 23:39-43). He was saved in his final moments.
- Assure them that no one is too far gone for Jesus!
3. Use the Bible – Not Just Your Words
Your words may be forgotten, but God’s Word is eternal (Isaiah 40:8). When sharing the Gospel, use key verses:
- Romans 3:23 – "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
- Romans 6:23 – "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
- John 3:16 – "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Have these verses memorized or marked in your Bible. Let people read them for themselves—it makes an impact!
What If Someone Says: "I don’t believe the Bible"?
- Ask, “Have you ever read it?” Many haven’t! Challenge them to read John.
- Share why you believe it. Talk about fulfilled prophecy, changed lives, and personal experiences.
- Remind them that truth remains truth, even if someone doesn’t believe it.
4. Pray for Opportunities & Be Ready
Ask God to lead you to someone who needs the Gospel. Then be ready when He does. Carry Gospel tracts. Keep your Bible handy. Be prepared to speak boldly when the moment comes.
Pray this:
"Lord, give me boldness to share Your truth. Open the right doors and give me the words to say."
What If Someone Is Interested but Hesitant?
- Be patient. Some need time to process.
- Offer to meet again and go through the Bible together.
- Invite them to church where they can hear more.
5. Give an Invitation – Don’t Just Talk About Jesus, Ask for a Response
Many believers share the Gospel but never ask the most important question:
"Would you like to put your faith in Jesus today?"
If they say yes, lead them in a simple prayer of faith:
"Lord, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for me and rose again. I put my trust in Him for salvation. Please save me. Amen."
Encourage them to start reading the Bible (begin with John), pray daily, and find a Bible-preaching church.
Final Encouragement
The world is lost and desperate for truth. Jesus is that truth. Whether you share at work, at home, or with a stranger on the street—be bold! You may be the only person who ever tells them about Christ.
"The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few." – Matthew 9:37
Will you be one of the laborers?
